Accenture's $29 Claude cap: 404 Media report

Accenture now funds only 29 dollars of Claude use per person a month, 404 Media reported on the 15th of October 2026 from a leaked internal note. Some staff had spent up to 1,000 dollars a month.

Leak: Accenture caps Claude at $29

Accenture now pays for only 29 dollars of Claude use per person each month, 404 Media reported on the 15th of October 2026. The outlet cited a leaked internal note.

Some staff had spent up to 1,000 dollars a month on Anthropic's AI, 404 Media wrote. The cap started on the 1st of October, its reporter Joseph Cox wrote.

Use above 29 dollars goes to a project code, with no promise of access

Use above the cap must be charged to a Work Breakdown Structure code, or WBS code, 404 Media reported. The code ties a cost to a project.

"Providing a WBS and obtaining a license does not guarantee indefinite or ongoing access to Claude," the note says. It also says "all costs are consumption-based," meaning the firm pays for what is used.

Staff told 404 Media they spent 500 to 1,000 dollars a month

One employee said they spent over 500 dollars a month, and a Claude Code user said 500 to 1,000, 404 Media reported. Claude Code is Anthropic's tool that writes software.

One worker lost access, the outlet wrote. Another employee called the change "disappointing," 404 Media reported.

Below we break down the 29 dollars against the old spending

29 dollars is 2.9% of the 1,000 dollars some staff spent, by our arithmetic.

Accenture's Premium plans include 250 dollars of usage a week, 404 Media reported. That is about 1,083 dollars a month, by our arithmetic, and many staff are not on Premium.

What Accenture said

"We make AI available to all our people," an Accenture spokesperson told 404 Media. Only 404 Media has reported seeing the internal note.
