Anthropic gives METR 6 seats inside, no veto
Anthropic said on the 15th of October 2026 that six staff from the evaluator METR now work inside the company with near employee access. METR can publish what it finds without Anthropic's approval.

Anthropic and METR: 6 testers insideSix staff from the evaluator METR now work inside Anthropic with access close to an employee's, Anthropic wrote on the 15th of October 2026. METR can publish what it finds without Anthropic's approval.
METR is a nonprofit that tests AI models for risks. "Anthropic can't veto publication," the company's post says.
Six METR staff get company hardware, offices and internal tools
The six have company hardware, office space and access to internal tools and systems, Anthropic wrote. Their access is roughly on par with Anthropic's own risk teams, the post says.
Anthropic staff are asked to share with them as they would with a colleague, the post says. It gives no end date for the deal.
Anthropic can require three kinds of cuts: customer data, legal advice, model design
Anthropic can make METR cut three things, the post says. They are customer data, private legal advice and details of how its models are built.
METR plans to publish its view of risk levels, incidents and practices, Anthropic wrote.
Below we break down Anthropic's three tiers of outside access

In tier 1, evaluators run narrow checks and publish only with Anthropic's approval. In tier 2, they see more and publish without approval.
Tier 3 is the METR deal: employee-like access with tier 2 publishing rights, the post says.
SecureBio, Accenture and Faculty also test Anthropic's work
SecureBio is checking the chapter on chemical and biological weapons in Anthropic's August Risk Report, the post says. Anthropic is working on a partnership with Accenture and Faculty to test and red-team its models.
Red-teaming means attacking a model on purpose to find weak spots. "We're embedding evaluators voluntarily, and we believe every frontier AI company should do the same," Anthropic wrote.
What is confirmed and what is not
All details come from Anthropic's post. METR's own blog had no post on the arrangement when Daily Agentic checked it on the 17th of October.
