Profit and loss
Anthropic lost 693 million dollars from running its business in the 6 months to June, the filing showed. That loss was 2.1 billion dollars a year earlier, Fortune reported.
By its own adjusted measure, which leaves out some costs such as staff shares, Anthropic made 1.6 billion dollars. That is about 10 cents of profit on every dollar of sales.
The 80.7 billion dollar loss
Its net loss was 80.7 billion dollars, one of the largest half-year losses on record, Fortune reported. Most of it, 72.4 billion dollars, is an accounting charge tied to the rising value of loans that investors can turn into shares.
That charge is a cost on paper with no cash paid out. Anthropic also took in 3.9 billion dollars of cash from its business, its first time above zero.
Below we break down the growth

Sales were about 14 times higher than a year earlier, by our arithmetic. In the second quarter, every dollar spent on computing power brought about 2 dollars of sales, Fortune reported.
What is confirmed and what is not
The sales and loss figures are in the filing. The 1.6 billion dollar profit uses Anthropic's own measure, which leaves out real costs.
