Chainalysis crypto tracing tools

Hackers used AI agents to break into Chainalysis, the company said on the 30th of October 2026. Chainalysis makes tools that help police and banks trace cryptocurrency.

The attackers took the names, email addresses, user IDs and role labels of customer users, Chainalysis said. It found no sign that case files or passwords were reached.

What Chainalysis said

Chainalysis said it found an outside attacker using "offensive agentic techniques" this month. AI agents are programs that carry out tasks on their own.

It found no sign that case files, query results, plain text passwords, two step login secrets or session tokens were reached. It is still working out which records each customer lost.

No technical detail yet

Chainalysis has not shared which flaws were used or how long the attackers had access, BleepingComputer reported. It is unclear whether they used ready made attack tools or their own AI agents, the site said.

Chainalysis said the attack has no link to the recent crypto theft at Binance.

What customers should do

Chainalysis told users to watch for unexpected password reset requests and login prompts. It urged customers to turn on two step login.

The company said it is working with outside security experts and using large AI models to review its platform.

Below we break down the data
