Claude moves into Google Docs, Sheets and Slides in public beta
Anthropic released a Claude add-on for Google Docs, Sheets and Slides on the 6th of October, in beta on all paid plans.

Anthropic released Claude for Google Workspace on the 6th of October 2026, according to an announcement on the Claude website. The add-on puts Claude in a sidebar inside Google Docs, Sheets and Slides.
It is in public beta on all paid Claude plans, the announcement says.
Why it matters
Claude can now read the open file, see what the user selected and change the file directly, according to Anthropic. New connectors also let Claude create and edit Google files from its own chat window, the post says.
Key facts
In Docs, Claude can fix a sentence in place or suggest longer edits as cards, the announcement says.
In Sheets, it can write formulas and build charts. In Slides, it builds new slides from the deck's own layouts, according to Anthropic.

By default, every change waits for the user's approval, the announcement says. In a second mode, Claude works without stopping.
Even then, it asks before it changes links, images or who can open a file, Anthropic's Help Center says. Claude's access matches the user's own Google sharing rights.
The beta has limits, the Help Center guide says. It does not work in Firefox, and Claude cannot read comments in Docs.
The guide also says to keep health data protected under US law out of the beta.
What's next
Neither the announcement nor the guide says when the beta will end. Administrators can install the add-on for a whole company from the Google Admin console, according to Anthropic.
