Claude subscriptions back in OpenCode 2.2.3

OpenCode added a Claude Agent provider in version 2.2.3 on the 30th of October 2026. It runs the user's own Claude Code login through Anthropic's Agent SDK, and Anthropic has not said whether it approved the move.

OpenCode's Claude Agent provider

Anomaly's OpenCode, an open source coding agent, now lets people use their Claude plan in it. Version 2.2.3 added a Claude Agent provider on the 30th of October 2026, its GitHub release notes say.

OpenCode announced it on X the same day, in a post seen 648,000 times by the next morning. Anthropic's docs pages carry no statement on the provider as of the 31st of October.

Users install Anthropic's Claude Code and sign in. Then they pick Claude Agent in OpenCode's connect menu, the notes say.

The provider drives that program through the Claude Agent SDK, Anthropic's kit for building agents, the pull request says.

OpenCode "never reads Claude Code's saved login", the pull request's design note says. Claude Code's own tools are off, and Claude uses OpenCode's tools.

A plan login shows a cost of 0 dollars, because the plan covers the use, the note says. API key and cloud logins show the model's list price.

Version 2.2.4, out at 16:59 UTC the same day, added a guided setup screen, its release notes say.

Below we break down the earlier block and the three texts that disagree

OpenCode dropped its Claude plan plugins in version 1.3.0 of March 2026, its provider docs say. That page still says "Anthropic explicitly prohibits this".

Anthropic's Agent SDK docs bar outside developers from offering claude.ai login "unless previously approved".

A notice of the 15th of June 2026 on Anthropic's help page adds more. It says SDK and third party app use "still draw from your subscription limits".

What is confirmed and what is not

Confirmed: the provider shipped in versions 2.2.3 and 2.2.4, OpenCode's GitHub releases show. Not confirmed: whether Anthropic approved it.

OpenCode's own design note lists that as an open question. It asks: "Do we need to discuss anything here with anthropic or any kind of approval?"
