Google shuts Jules AI agent on 31 December

Google will shut down Jules, its AI coding agent, on the 31st of December 2026, Google said on the Jules website. It posted the notice on the 29th of October.

Users can keep finishing work in Jules until the 11th of November. After that, Jules becomes read only until the end of the year, Google said.

What Jules did

Jules is a coding agent, an AI tool that writes and fixes computer code on its own in the background. Google launched it in December 2024, The Verge reported.

Moving to Antigravity

Google said lessons from Jules are shaping Google Antigravity, its platform for building software with AI agents. Google is working to bring background tasks like those in Jules into Antigravity, The Verge reported.

The same day, Antigravity opened a store for add ons with partners such as Atlassian, Figma and Stripe, Chrome Geek reported.

What users should save

Users can export their settings, connected projects, memories and full session history to a folder on their computer, Google said. Code and changes stored on GitHub stay there.
