Grok Bot users hit weekly limit 4 days early

Elon Musk wrote on X that the cost of running Grok Bot was too high for the money it makes, The Verge reported. Paying users had said their weekly allowance ran out days early.

Paying users of Grok Bot, an AI helper made by xAI, said their weekly allowance ran out days early. Elon Musk then wrote on X that running it cost too much, The Verge reported on the 2nd of November 2026.

Musk said the cost of serving Grok Bot was unsustainably high relative to revenue. He gave no figures and did not say what had changed.

Users ran out early

One user said his use hit 100 percent with four days left before the weekly reset, IBTimes reported. Another said his meter jumped from 44 to 87 percent in 24 minutes.

Musk was answering a user who asked xAI to reset the weekly allowance. He did not say if anyone would get one.

Two reasons given

Grok's official account blamed new allocations made because of high costs, IBTimes said. It also named a separate fault in the usage dashboard that showed wrong, high readings.

That fault did not change real use and has been fixed, the account said.

What Grok Bot is

Grok Bot is an AI agent, a program that does tasks with many steps alone. It launched in August and can keep working in the background.

That takes far more computing power than a chat reply. Plans start at 30 dollars a month, with tiers at 100 and 200 dollars.

Below we break down the numbers

A week has seven days, so running out with four left means the pool lasted three days. That is a little over twice the normal pace, by our arithmetic.

The meter that went from 44 to 87 percent rose 43 points in 24 minutes, nearly two points a minute.

Grok Bot weekly usage reports from the first of November 2026: one user at one hundred percent with four days left; another saw usage climb from forty-four to eighty-seven percent in twenty-four minutes; paid plans start at thirty dollars a month, with tiers at one hundred and two hundred dollarsGrok Bot weekly usage reports from the first of November 2026: one user at one hundred percent with four days left; another saw usage climb from forty-four to eighty-seven percent in twenty-four minutes; paid plans start at thirty dollars a month, with tiers at one hundred and two hundred dollars

What is confirmed and what is not

Musk's words are confirmed. The real cost, the revenue and any change to limits or prices were not given.
