Meta launched share sales worth about 35 billion dollars on the 26th of October 2026 to pay for AI. It also plans a later program of up to 60 billion dollars.

Meta's 35 billion dollar share saleMeta launched share sales worth about 35 billion dollars on the 26th of October 2026 to pay for AI, the company announced. Reuters and CNBC also reported the sales.
Meta also plans a later program of up to 60 billion dollars. Together that could reach 95 billion dollars, CNBC reported.
The two parts of the 35 billion dollars
The first part is 22.5 billion dollars of Meta's ordinary Class A shares. Meta gets that cash later, on dates up to the 19th of November 2027, through deals with Morgan Stanley and Goldman Sachs.
The second part is about 12.5 billion dollars of preferred shares, which pay a set income. They turn into ordinary shares around the 15th of August 2029.
The later 60 billion dollars
Meta plans to sell new Class C shares bit by bit on the market, up to 60 billion dollars. It said this will not start before early 2027, and no deal is signed yet.
Nvidia, AMD and Broadcom showed interest in buying up to 5 billion dollars of the shares, Meta said. Those offers are not binding.
Why Meta needs the money
Meta expects to spend 135 billion to 145 billion dollars on buildings and equipment in 2026, mostly for AI. It had about 82 billion dollars in cash at the end of September.
Meta's shares fell 7 percent after its results last week, as investors worried about spending. They rose 1.6 percent before trading opened on Monday, CNBC reported.
Below we break down the 95 billion dollars

Adding 22.5 billion and 12.5 billion gives 35 billion dollars. With the 60 billion dollar program, the total is 95 billion dollars, by our arithmetic.
That is about two thirds of the 145 billion dollars Meta may spend in 2026.
What is confirmed and what is not
Meta confirmed the 35 billion dollar sales in its own announcement. The 60 billion dollar program is only a plan, and its size and timing are not set, Meta said.
