Nvidia agents steer 42 dishes hunting aliens
AI agents now help run the SETI Institute's Allen Telescope Array, a group of 42 radio dishes, Nvidia said. Scientists can steer it with a plain English request.

Nvidia AI at the Allen TelescopeAI agents now help run the Allen Telescope Array in California, Nvidia said on the 30th of October 2026. The array has 42 radio dishes that listen for signals from space.
Scientists can now steer it with one request in plain English, Nvidia said. AI agents are programs that carry out tasks on their own.
What the agents do
The agents can point the dishes, tune them for a clean signal and fix errors in the data, Nvidia said. They can also run AI checks on data as it arrives.
Work that took people weeks or years can now take hours, Nvidia said.
Who runs it
The SETI Institute and Breakthrough Listen run the search for signs of life beyond Earth. SETI stands for the search for extraterrestrial intelligence.
Andrew Siemion of the SETI Institute said the new systems are a breakthrough in translation.
Fast data
The system handles 2.4 terabits of data a second on Nvidia Blackwell chips, Nvidia said. It uses Nvidia's Holoscan tools to process data as it streams in.
It made the first live AI detection of a pulsar, a fast spinning dead star, in the Crab Nebula.
Below we break down the speed
2.4 terabits a second is about 300 gigabytes a second, by our arithmetic. That is roughly a full laptop drive every two seconds.

What is confirmed and what is not
The details come from Nvidia's own blog. No sign of alien life has been found.
