Nvidia may back Nscale with $5 billion
Nvidia is in talks to guarantee more than 5 billion dollars of building costs for Nscale's West Virginia data centre for Anthropic, The Information reported. No deal is signed.

Nvidia and Nscale's data centreNvidia is in talks to guarantee more than 5 billion dollars for Nscale's new data centre in West Virginia, The Information reported. TechCrunch and Reuters carried the report from the 29th of October 2026.
Anthropic, the maker of Claude, plans to use the site. No deal has been signed and the terms could change, the report said.
What Nvidia would do
Nvidia would act like a cosigner on a loan, TechCrunch said. If Nscale stopped paying for building work, Nvidia would take over the site for a time.
It would then help find a buyer and a new tenant, the report said. Nvidia's past help for cloud firms mostly covered rented space and chips.
Why it matters to Anthropic
Anthropic signed a 44.6 billion dollar contract for the first 460 megawatt building, Nscale's stock market filing says. The two firms are discussing a second deal of about 45 billion dollars.
Nscale said it has not yet raised the money to build the first building, The Next Web reported. Anthropic can walk away if that money is not ready in time.
Nscale's plans
Nscale is a UK cloud company that rents out AI computers. It hopes to list on the stock market at a value of up to 35 billion dollars, TechCrunch said.
Nvidia already promised Nscale 1 billion dollars in September, TechCrunch said.
Below we break down the numbers
A 5 billion dollar guarantee is about one ninth of the 44.6 billion dollar contract, by our arithmetic.

What is confirmed and what is not
The talks come from people familiar with them, The Information said. Nvidia did not respond, and Nscale declined to comment to Bloomberg.
