OpenAI's GPT-6.1 Terra costs 50 percent less

OpenAI's GPT-6.1 Terra at half priceOpenAI released GPT-6.1 Terra on the 26th of October 2026, a fast AI model for ChatGPT Work, Codex and developers. Its standard price is half that of GPT-5.6 Terra, the model it follows, OpenAI said.
Terra is built for office work done on a computer. OpenAI gave examples such as filling out forms, reading invoices and editing videos.
What it costs
Developers pay 1 dollar for every million tokens sent in and 5 dollars for every million tokens sent back, OpenAI said. A token is a small piece of a word.
In ChatGPT Work and Codex, the same plan now covers more tasks than before, the company said. Terra is open to Plus, Pro, Enterprise and Edu users.
What OpenAI says it can do
On Terminal-Bench 4.0, a coding test, Terra solved 50.3 percent of tasks at its top setting. GPT-5.6 Terra scored 21.5 percent.
OpenAI said Terra finishes tasks over 3 times faster than GPT-6 Astra and GPT-6.1 Sol, its bigger models. On a test built to cause wrong answers, its error rate fell from 53.6 percent to 16.7 percent.
Below we break down the numbers

The coding score is about 2.3 times the old one, by our arithmetic. A job that writes 10 million tokens now costs 50 dollars.
What is confirmed and what is not
All test scores come from OpenAI's own checks. OpenAI said Sol and Astra stay the better choice for the hardest coding work.
