Sweden's state offices drop 2 chatbotsSweden's Government Offices blocked ChatGPT and Claude in the web browser on staff computers from the 26th of October 2026. Staff were sent to Microsoft's Copilot, the Government Offices told SVT, the state broadcaster.

Why Sweden did it
AI tools with no contract can put state data at risk, digital chief Mikael Wettercrantz told Sveriges Radio. Officials feared that typed data could be kept and used to train the AI, Euronews reported.
Copilot passed a safety check and is covered by a deal with Microsoft, Euronews reported.
Who else blocked them
The Swedish Tax Agency and the National Board of Institutional Care already block the services, Sveriges Radio found. The second body runs homes for young people and drug care.
The Swedish Enforcement Authority may do the same, SVT reported.
Who keeps access
Some staff can still use ChatGPT and Claude through Intric, a Swedish AI service. Intric says it runs on servers in Sweden.
