Zoom to flag deepfakes in calls from December

Zoom announced deepfake risk detection on the 20th of October 2026. From December it should warn companies when a face or voice on a call may be fake. Zoom gave no price.

Zoom's deepfake risk detection

Zoom will warn companies when a person on a video call may be a deepfake, a fake face or voice made by AI. The company announced the tool, called deepfake risk detection, on the 20th of October 2026.

It is expected in December 2026, Zoom wrote in its news post from Zoomtopia, its yearly customer event. Zoom gave no price and did not say which plans get it.

How Zoom's deepfake risk detection works

The tool checks a caller's video and sound while the call runs, Zoom wrote. It looks for faces or voices that were changed outside Zoom.

When it suspects a fake, it shows a warning with a score of how sure it is. Zoom did not say how often the tool gets it right.

Who it is for: hiring, sales and meetings

Zoom named job interviews, customer calls and meetings. Its examples were a job candidate "who isn't who they claim to be" and a caller posing as a trusted supplier.

Why fake video calls cost companies money

An Arup worker in Hong Kong sent fraudsters about 25.6 million US dollars, CNN reported on the 16th of May 2024. Arup is a British engineering firm.

Hong Kong police said everyone else on his video call was a deepfake, CNN wrote. Arup confirmed to CNN that fake voices and images were used.

Below we break down the 5 Zoom tools and when each arrives

The deepfake tool is one of 5 tools for IT and security teams, the staff who run a company's computers. One is ready now, and the rest arrive by early 2027.

AI agents are programs that do tasks on their own. Zoom's new AI management page lets company staff see which agents run and what data they touch.

The AI guardrails keep chosen facts, such as money figures, out of AI summaries. Zoom's chief product officer Russell Dicker said companies need "the same level of control and visibility over AI" as over other key systems.
