• Gemini 4 Carbon: Google's Opus 5.5 rival?

  Rumor: Business Insider reported on the 9th of October 2026 that Google staff are testing an unreleased Gemini 4 model called Carbon. Google has not confirmed it, and its Gemini 4 Argon still has no date for the paid API.

• GPT-6 Bel rumor: OpenAI first, then Claude 6?

  Rumor: an anonymous X post on the 10th of October 2026 said OpenAI will release GPT-6 Bel and Anthropic will answer with Claude 6. Neither company has confirmed it.

• 8x faster, 6x pricier: GPT-6.1 Sol Ultrafast

  Ultrafast mode reached the API, Codex and ChatGPT Work on the 8th of October. An hour of work can finish in seven and a half minutes, and the same job costs six times as much in the API.

• Claude Haiku 5.5: up to 90% cheaper than 4.5

  Anthropic said its new small model costs 0.10 dollars per million input tokens for most requests.
